Born in West Malaysia, Jag Grewal finished elementary school before his family moved south to Singapore, where he attended middle school. At age 14, the family immigrated to Australia, where Jag completed high school at 16 and earned a scholarship from BHP Co. Ltd. to attend the University of South Australia. After successfully completing a rigorous degree program in Electrical Engineering, Jag chose a different path and joined his father’s property development company, where he learned the real estate business from the ground up.

In the late 1990s, Jag’s entrepreneurial spirit brought him to the United States. After a short stint in Arizona working in property development, he discovered Sarasota while traveling to Africa on a mission assignment. After completing that assignment, Jag moved to Sarasota in December 2000.​ He joined Coldwell Banker and quickly established himself in the commercial real estate community. In 2006, Jag became the #1 Coldwell Banker agent in the Sarasota market and was also recognized as the #5 Coldwell Banker agent worldwide, an extraordinary achievement that helped cement his reputation as one of the region’s leading commercial real estate professionals. In 2009, Jag left Coldwell Banker Commercial to form a partnership with Ian Black, Steve Horn and Marci Marsh at Ian Black Real Estate, where he remains a Partner today.

 

A well-respected commercial real estate broker, Jag has completed more than $800 million in sales and leasing volume throughout the Sarasota-Manatee region. His experience encompasses office, industrial, retail, land, investment sales and complex leasing transactions, and he has earned numerous professional distinctions throughout his career.

Jag is married to his amazing, beautiful and creative wife, Amy Grewal, and together they have four wonderful children. Family is an important part of Jag’s life, and one of his most memorable accomplishments came in 2025 when he trained for and completed the London Marathon alongside his three sons. The months of training together and ultimately crossing the finish line made it an extraordinary experience and one of his most treasured family memories. Outside of work and community involvement, Jag also enjoys golf, squash and staying active.

• Recipient of the prestigious Commercial Realtor of the Year award, presented by his peers in December 2007.

• Earned the rare SIOR Dual Designation from the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, an achievement held by only a select group of professionals worldwide.
